On April 5, Major General Hossein Salami, the Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), declared that while Iran will not initiate war, it is fully prepared to respond to any form of aggression. Speaking at a meeting with senior IRGC commanders, Salami stated,
“We are not worried about war at all. We will not be the initiators of war, but we are ready for any war.”
Salami emphasized that Iran has developed strategies to defeat its adversaries and will not retreat from its positions. He highlighted that the past year was filled with intense challenges, with “the entire army of disbelievers” opposing the Islamic front.
These remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Iran facing accusations from Western nations of supporting militant groups and engaging in destabilizing activities. Salami’s statements underscore Iran’s stance of defensive readiness coupled with a commitment not to provoke conflict.
