US bases not to be safe if Iran's sovereignty violated

Iran has issued stern warnings that U.S. military bases in the Middle East would be targeted if Iranian sovereignty is violated. This announcement comes amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington over the stalled nuclear agreement and recent military maneuvers in the region.

On March 28, Mohammad Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, declared that any U.S. military action against Iran would result in direct attacks on American bases, emphasizing that such actions would destabilize the region.

“If the Americans attack the sanctity of Iran, the entire region will blow up like a spark in an ammunition dump,” Parliament Speaker Mohammad Qalibaf said.

“Their bases and those of their allies will not be safe,” Qalibaf said in a live speech at the annual Al-Quds Day, that marks the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.

This warning followed U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent message to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which combined threats with an openness to diplomatic engagement. The letter underscored the urgency of addressing Iran’s nuclear program and regional activities.

Tensions have been mounting since the U.S. unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal, leading to the reimposition of sanctions on Iran. In response, Iran has exceeded uranium enrichment limits set by the agreement, raising international concerns about its nuclear ambitions. While Western powers suspect Iran of pursuing nuclear weapons capabilities, Tehran maintains that its nuclear program is solely for civilian energy purposes.

The situation remains highly volatile, with both nations engaging in rhetoric and actions that could lead to further escalation.
