President Donald Trump on Friday issued a pointed ultimatum to Hamas, demanding the group formally accept his 20-point Gaza peace proposal by Sunday at 6 p.m. EST (2200 GMT) or face “all hell” unleashed against it. In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump labelled the offer a “last chance” and warned of “unprecedented consequences” if Hamas fails to accede.
The framework, unveiled earlier this week alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, demands an immediate ceasefire, the full release of Israeli hostages (including retrieval of deceased), Hamas’s disarmament and withdrawal from governance in Gaza, and establishment of a transitional authority led by international actors. Trump and his allies argue that virtually all relevant nations have either endorsed or accepted the plan, leaving Hamas isolated unless it abandons the proposal.
In his message, Trump urged “all innocent Palestinians” to vacate high-risk areas of Gaza immediately, promising they would be cared for by humanitarian partners. He also claimed that over 25,000 Hamas “soldiers” have already been killed, and asserted that remaining fighters are increasingly surrounded and “waiting… for the word ‘GO’” that would meaningfully extinguish them.
While Israel has voiced support for the plan, Netanyahu inserted conditions: Israel’s withdrawal would be phased and conditional on the hostage release, and Gaza would remain subject to security oversight. Hamas’s leadership, for its part, has so far not formally accepted or rejected the plan. Instead, sources say the group is engaging in internal deliberations, weighing terms and seeking guarantees — especially on disarmament and leadership protection — before delivering a response.
