France’s Foreign Ministry has issued an urgent advisory, calling for all French citizens currently in Iran to leave the country immediately. This announcement, made on March 20, 2025, underscores escalating concerns over regional tensions and the safety of foreign nationals within Iran.

This development coincides with the release of Olivier Grondeau, a French citizen who had been imprisoned in Iran for over 880 days on charges of espionage. Grondeau’s release was confirmed earlier today, marking a significant moment in France-Iran relations.

The French government has been actively working to secure the release of its citizens detained in Iran. In January 2025, France advised its citizens to avoid traveling to Iran until all detained nationals were released, labeling them as “hostages.”

The Foreign Ministry’s latest advisory reflects heightened apprehension regarding the security situation in Iran. French nationals are strongly encouraged to arrange their departure without delay, utilizing available commercial flights and adhering to any additional guidance provided by French diplomatic missions in the region.

This advisory aligns with similar warnings issued by other nations in recent months, reflecting a broader international concern over the safety of foreign nationals in Iran amid escalating regional tensions.
