China has initiated large-scale joint military exercises involving its army, navy, air force, and rocket forces around Taiwan. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) describes these drills as a “stern warning” against separatist movements and external interference, emphasizing its commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense reported the presence of 19 Chinese naval vessels near the island, including the aircraft carrier “Shandong.” In response, Taiwan has deployed its own warships and established a central response group to monitor the situation closely.
These exercises follow recent remarks by Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te, who referred to Beijing as a “foreign hostile force.” Chinese state media have criticized Lai, depicting him as a “parasite” and accusing him of promoting anti-China sentiments.
The drills are also perceived as a reaction to U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s recent visit to the region, during which he vowed to counter China’s aggression. China’s actions have drawn international attention, with concerns about escalating tensions in the Taiwan Strait.
Taiwan maintains its sovereignty, asserting that only its people can decide the island’s future. The government continues to enhance its defense capabilities, including acquiring new armaments from the United States and bolstering its indigenous defense industry.
